Servant leadership involves placing other people before ourselves in everyday matters, not just in formal settings. Leadership takes place daily, whether in a class project, committee, or in friendships.
As mentioned in Principle-Centered Leadership by Stephen Covey, servant leadership includes:
"So let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudginly or of necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to make all grace aboutnd toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, have an abudnance for every good work." 2 Corinthians 9:7-8
The first responsibility of a leader is to define reality. The last is to say thank you. In between the two, the leader must become a servant and a debtor. That sums up the progress of an artful leader. -Max DePree-
