American History Studies at Gordon College

Gordon College offers American History classes from colonial times to present day. It also offers Introduction to Afro-American History and History of American Foreign Policy. The purpose of the history department as stated in the Gordon College 1995-1996 Acedemic Catalog is the following:

"The Department of History introduces students to essential knowledge of mankind's past, assisting them to gain insights into the dynamics of the historical process and to develop those critical and interpretive skills which are vital to the discerning study of human experience. Its aim is to prepare students with pre-professional education for the fields of law, government service, teaching and the Christian ministry, and to qualify them for graduate studies in the social sciences."

In order to fulfill the requirements for a history major a student must take thirty-two credits of history. The following are the American history courses currently offered:
